Soomerootslase Lars Sundi menuromaanidel põhinev mängufilm „Colorado avenue“ räägib Soome väljarändajatest, kodusõjast ja keeluseadusest. See on lugu Hanna Östmani (Birthe Wingren) elust, mis on täis unistusi ja saavutusi, kaotusi ja alandust, petmist ja kibestumist. Filmi tegevus toimub 1880ndatest kuni 1920ndate lõpuni, hõlmates iseseisvunud Soome riigi algusjärgu murrangulisi aegu. 18-aastane Hanna läheb Ameerikasse, et saada suures Läänes rikkaks. Kümme aastat hiljem, pärast peadpööritavaid seiklusi ja leseks jäämist, tuleb ta koos kahe lapsega tagasi oma kodukülla Pohjanmaal ja avab seal külakaupluse. Dollari Hanna, nagu külarahvas teda kutsub, pälvib lõpuks igatsetud soosingu kohalikus kogukonnas. Kui Soomes kehtestatakse keeluseadus, saab Hanna pojast Ottost (Peter Kanerva) salaviinamüüjate „kanistrikuningas“. Hanna tunneb jälle häbi. Tema elu mõjutavad ka ebaseadusliku posimisega tegelev ema (Ylva Ekblad) ning noorusarmastus, mõjukas vallaametnik Johannes Smeds (Nicke Lignell). Filmi on lavastanud mitmete auhindadega pärjatud režissöör Claes Olsson (s. 1948), kelle toodangu hulka kuuluvad teiste hulgas ka „Õnne varjud“ (Onnen varjot), „Kaunid naised rannal“ (Ihanat naiset rannalla) ja „Akvaariumiarmastus“ (Akvaariorakkaus). Olsson on ka produktioonifirma Kinoproduction Oy tegevjuht. Tema asutatud firma on tegutsenud alates 1977. a. ja tootnud kaksteist täispikka filmi ning üle kolmekümne dokumentaal- ja lühifilmi. Kinoproduction Oy on saanud filmide eest auhindu mitmetel festivalidel Soomes ja välismaal.
